General Info

The LIGHT Exec Team is grateful you are preparing to be at LIGHT 2024! We’ve been praying for an incredibly impactful week of learning, growing, building relationships, renewing friendships, and forming and deepening our convictions for missionary service in the Northeast.

The first 30 to register for LIGHT 2024 receive a gift from one of our sponsors!

The Summit Youth Facility of Erie First A/G, 8160 Oliver Rd, Erie, PA 16509.

LIGHT starts with an outdoor dinner on Monday, June 17 (see Monday dinner below), and concludes with our final meeting from 7:00-9:00 pm on Thursday, June 20. A dessert party will take place after the service on Thursday night. All departures should take place on Friday morning, June 21.

Location

LIGHT check-in runs from 2:00-5:30pm on Monday, June 17 at The Summit, the youth center at Erie First A/G. When you arrive at The Summit, please come inside to the welcome/check-in area. You will receive a staff welcome bag, with housing instructions, and a conference schedule.

Note: If you get delayed en route to LIGHT on Monday, June 17, contact Matt Sprenger, 304-612-6566.

Check-in

The opening cookout takes place at 5:30 pm on Monday, June 17, at The Summit, an Erie First A/G building, 100 yards from the main church building.

Monday dinner

Lunch and dinner will take place at The Summit on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The info below indicates we are heading to the Beach on Tuesday night for dinner. If we encounter bad weather, we will switch the Beach night to Wednesday night.

If not, Wednesday night dinner will be a chance for you to go out on your own with teammates, friends, or colleagues.

Meals

The rooms we will stay in are at The Wingate Hotel (right next to the church). The hotel will provide a breakfast each morning in the lobby.

The Wingate Hotel also has a lobby that we can use this week. Plan to use it as a hang-out space to visit with others, play board games (that you bring, etc.). There is a walking path from the Wingate to the church next door, so you can leave your car at the hotel and walk to LIGHT.

Last, please plan to leave a tip for the hotel cleaning staff at the Wingate. $2.00 a day is suggested.

Housing

We are planning on dinner at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, June 18, at the Rotary Pavilion we have rented at Lake Erie, thirty minutes from the church. Bring swimwear, beach towels, and whatever you need to enjoy the evening with us.

We will leave the church at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 18, to drive to the beach, so plan accordingly.

To get to the beach site we have reserved, put Rotary Pavilion, Presque Isle State Park, Erie, PA 16507 into your maps app and you will get directions from Erie First.

The Beach

Parents who are bringing their kids to LIGHT will need to meet with Lindsay Banton (from UConn Chi Alpha) and Nicole Sedillo (Buffalo State Chi Alpha) at 6:30 pm on Monday, June 17, to handle check-in procedures for Tuesday morning. The meeting will take place in the auditorium at The Summit. You will get a reminder at check-in.

Lindsay will run the XAMK experience at LIGHT, with Nicole’s assistance and a team of XAMK volunteers. Nicole will serve as our XAMK liaison to parents. She will be in touch with parents before LIGHT and during the conference.

The XAMK experience will run from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (including the final meeting on Thursday night). Children will be separated into five groups for individualized learning and play time for age-appropriate activity. Those ages are:

  • Babies: Birth through 18 months

  • Preschool Group: Ages 2.5 through age 5

  • Elementary Group: Completed Kindergarten through entering 5th Grade ** (ages 6-9)

  • Middle School Group: Entering 6th Grade through Completed 8th Grade ** (ages 10-13)

  • Teenagers: Ages 14 and up.

** These groups will be combined for outdoor time.

Note: Nicole will be in contact with parents in the spring to answer questions you may have about the XAMK experience. If you registered and are bringing your kids, but haven’t heard from Nicole by mid- May, her contact info is below.

There is no cost for children to participate in the XAMK experience at LIGHT. Thank God for financial partners who invest in our children.

XAMK Program

Back by popular demand will be our daily contests (with prizes), and the InterVarsity Press book table. Lynn Breitenbach has selected dozens of titles we believe will be of interest and value to you. We get 50% off the cost of the books at LIGHT. Plus, first timers to LIGHT get a free book from IVP, courtesy of Mike O.
