Faculty

  • Maddie graduated from the University of Virginia in 2020 with a degree in Kinesiology and Religious Studies. While at UVA, Maddie experienced the Lord in transformative ways through community and discipleship in Chi Alpha. Following graduation, she jumped into the internship, planning to serve a year before heading to graduate school. However, she fell in love with working with college students during an important time in their lives. Believing God had more for her in Charlottesville, she joined the UVA staff the following fall. In her free time, you can find Maddie sipping Shenandoah Joe’s coffee, hanging with her friends, or playing soccer!

  • Josh graduated from the University of Virginia in 2007 and served in Chi Alpha for 17 years. He currently is the Discipleship Pastor at Chapel Springs Church in Bristow, VA. He and his wife, Katie, were in the inaugural class of CMITs at UVA, and served at UVA for 12 years before leading a pioneering team at James Madison University.

He believes life on life discipleship is the best way to change the world and there is nothing more exciting than seeing a disciple make a disciple who makes a disciple. He enjoys black coffee, golf, reading, and coaching youth sports.

  • Mike has served on staff with Chi Alpha since 1982. He started following Jesus as a student at Ohio University in the late 1970's due to the influence of other college students. He has served with Chi Alpha at the campus level in Ohio and Boston, MA, as well as in state, regional, and national leadership. Mike currently serves as a National Training Specialist, aka, as the "Gandalf of Chi Alpha (see The Lord of the Rings)," bringing good cheer, training, and resource to Chi Alpha missionaries. He is also the original creator of support raising training for Chi Alpha Campus Ministries.

Mike is a graduate of Ohio University and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. In his spare time, Mike enjoys reading Jack Reacher books, Sherlock Holmes mysteries, and Vince Flynn spy thrillers, playing racquetball and golf, and watching his favorite TV show, Fixer to Fabulous on HGTV. Mike and Barbara live in Charlottesville, VA, have been married since 1982 and have two grown children, Sarah and Joshua.
